M. Janet Burkardt has been an associate with The Law Offices of Ira Weiss since 2000. During that time, she’s been actively involved in the representation of municipal and school clients with special emphasis on local taxation, tax assessment and collection matters along with zoning and municipal issues.

Career highlights include:

• Presenting seminars on subject matters related to taxation for various municipal and school district associations with the Pennsylvania Bar Institute and the Local Government Academy.
• Working in conjunction with local Intermediate Units and PSBA on matters relating to various taxation issues for school districts such as Act 1, Act 72 and Act 32.
• Serving as solicitor for the Borough of Bradford Woods and two local zoning hearing boards in addition to her representation of school districts.
• Receiving the 2006 “Super Lawyer Rising Star,” an honor given by Law & Politics to only 2.5 percent of the more than 45,000 attorneys practicing in Pennsylvania.

Janet received her Juris Doctor from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law and her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Pittsburgh. She is a member of the Municipal and School Solicitors Association, the Pennsylvania Bar Association, the Allegheny County Bar Association and the Pennsylvania School Boards Association.
